When to Upload

When to Upload

Upload should happen in-field or immediately upon successful completion of data capture.Pilots with mobile hotspot/Starlinks are prioritized. Speed of upload is rewarded in Raad's pilot reputation system - both negatively and positively.

If pilots are flying multiple batteries, uploads should happen simultaneously with subsequent flights. If you choose to upload while flying, always ensure safe operation of the aircraft first.

Be prepared to format your SD card after every upload. If you're not able to format your SD card for any reason, don't try to hot-swap SD cards - this will lead to corrupted files. Instead, fly a portion of the mission with a clear end point. Then, upload that portion, format the card, and continue flying.

Upload from your computer, not your phone. Transfer your SD card images to your computer first, then navigate to the Raad web app at app.raad.com to perform the upload. The uploader handles large batches: a typical mission is 500–2,000 images.

Do not edit, rename, or strip metadata from images before uploading. EXIF data (GPS coordinates, altitude, camera settings, timestamps) is critical for processing. Modified files will fail QA.
